Welcome to TDT's 2016-17 season, featuring bold new creations, exciting remounts and a visit to the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Animated, our fall program at Toronto's Fleck Dance Theatre, includes Martingales (2014), Fjeld (1990), and Animated Shorts (1984). Created over a span of thirty years, these three works illustrate very different stages in my choreographic journey.
In February, Canadian experimentalist Ame Henderson returns to TDT and the Winchester Street Theatre with Noisy. This feisty new dance builds on voyager (2014), in which continuous movement was combined with Jennifer's Castle's continuous song. In Noisy, Henderson gives the song to the dancers.
In April, ten years after its 2007 premiere, we are presenting a new version of Chiasmata. This is a work that marked a major artistic shift for me, and its restaging will mark the beginning of a three-year project supported by the Metcalf Foundation.
In March, TDT returns to the National Arts Centre with Echo (2015), sharing a program of works by other Associate Dance Artists of the NAC, Crystal Pite and Marie Chouinard.
Our final program this season, Emerging Voices, features premieres by Alicia Grant and Emily Law. It is a pleasure to be hosting these two talented young choreographers as they bring their complex new works to fruition.
We look forward to seeing you at the theatre!
