BRODIE STEVENSON
Brodie Stevenson was born in the small village of Oweekeno on British Columbia's central coast. Stevenson's first pull to the stage manifested itself in a love for drama. He studied theatre at the University of Victoria for three years, followed by one year of studies at Studio 58, School for the Performing Arts at Langara College in Vancouver BC. Stevenson's first leap into dance began on remote Lasqueti Island, with a three month long Contact Improvisation workshop at the ripe age of twenty-two. Pursuing his new interest, he took up dance studies at the Linda Raino Dance Centre in Victoria, BC. Enthused about dance, Stevenson enrolled in The School of Toronto Dance Theatre and graduated in 2007. While at the School he had the opportunity to work with such choreographers as Peter Chin, Paul-André Fortier, D.A Hoskins, Mitch Kirsch, Sharon Moore, Ted Robinson, Julia Sasso, Heidi Strauss, and Darryl Tracy. Outside of school Stevenson performed in August 2006 at the fFIDA International Dance Festival in Piotr Beirnat's Past Perfect. He also had the pleasure of working for Ballet Victoria over the 2006 Christmas season, remounting David Earle's Court of Miracles. Most recently he has worked with choreographers David Earle, Barb Lindenberg, Darryl Hoskins, Darryl Tracy, and with the Integrated Dance Artists Collective. Stevenson has also been busy creating and performing with the dance collective, Octamerous, at various dance festivals this past summer.
