Philip Strong

PHILIP STRONG, Sound Design

Philip Strong is a sound designer, technical designer, composer and performer based in Toronto. He is a graduate of the Banff Centre Audio Associate program, a Mystery Lab fellow, and an instructor at The Audio Recording Academy. He has participated in John Oswald's recording projects, live manifestations, and installations including A Time To Hear For Here, the 35-speaker perpetual sound mobile and permanent installation at the Royal Ontario Museum. Laurel MacDonald created an award-winning video installation as an extension of this work and Phil was brought on as technical designer. Laurel & Phil also perform multichannel voice and video works as the duo VideoVoce. As well as creating soundtracks for dance, Mr. Strong also scores for film and theatre. He was recently awarded a second Gemini for his film music work and has also received a Dora Mavor Moore award for his musical score to Christopher House's Timecode Break. Severe Clear is the second of nine feature works for which Phil has had the pleasure of collaborating with Christopher House and TDT.
