This new commission for Toronto Dance Theatre, presented in partnership with Harbourfront Centre’s World Stage, pits the elastic force of group will against individual agency. Choreographer Heidi Strauss uses pivotal moments in the lives of the dancers to delicately pose the question “how did we end up here?” Everyday Anthems is a fervent ode to personal strength, to things unrequited, to power in numbers, and to belonging. It is an intense physical celebration of now, and the unknown ahead.
Collaborating on the production are also set and costume designer Teresa Przybylski, lighting designer Rebecca Picherack, writing advisor Brendan Gall and composer Thomas Ryder Payne.
Building on an already rich and longstanding relationship with Harbourfront Centre, TDT is proud to be included in this contemporary performance series highlighting global trendsetters.
