Toronto Dance Theatre is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of our ticket buyers, web-users, donors, sponsors, employees and partners. At Toronto Dance Theatre, we value your trust, and we are committed to treating your information with the utmost respect and responsibility. Thus, we recognize that in order to maintain your trust, we are required to be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information, which you have chosen to share.

Throughout your relationship with our company, Toronto Dance Theatre will often gather and use your personal information in order to fulfill our mission goals and continue our contribution to the arts community. It is our promise that this knowledge will be carefully protected and that any other use or dealing with this information is subject to your consent.

Toronto Dance Theatre does not lend, rent or sell its patron list to any organization or individual. If an individual does so wish to be removed from our patron list, we routinely offer the opportunity to opt-out of our mailing list.

Typically, Toronto Dance Theatre will gather your information when you purchase tickets to attend our shows and special events. However, we also tend to collect it when you request information from us through phone, fax or email.

Toronto Dance Theatre takes the protection of your personal information very seriously. Only approved Toronto Dance Theatre professionals are granted the access to your data, and many safeguards are put into place to ensure that it is not used for any other purpose other than what we have stated.

This information is collected primarily to gain your valuable feedback, deliver donor benefits and to keep the lines of communication open about upcoming programs and special events. Also, this knowledge assists us throughout our fundraising campaigns, allowing us to raise funds for our worthy cause.

Web-site and Electronic Mailings

Toronto Dance Theatre does not store personal information on our actual web-site. This information is automatically delivered to the development department within our company.

When delivering personal information about yourself through email, it is not completely secure. Therefore, any information which you release through this medium, is subject to being viewed by anyone determined to do so.

Updating of Privacy Policy

Toronto Dance Theatre reviews its privacy practices regularly and constantly revises its policy.

Providing Goods and Services to People with Disabilities

Toronto Dance Theatre (TDT) is committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities.

Assistive devices

We will ensure that our staff are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by customers with disabilities while accessing our goods or services.

Communication

We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability.

Service animals

We welcome people with disabilities and their service animals. Service animals are allowed on the parts of our premises that are open to the public.

Support persons

A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises.

We will notify customers of this through a notice posted on the door of the TDT office and on our website.

Notice of temporary disruption

In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities for customers with disabilities, TDT will notify customers promptly. This clearly posted notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated length of time, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available.

The notice will be placed on the door of the TDT office and on our website.

Training for staff

Toronto Dance Theatre will provide training to employees, volunteers and others who deal with the public or other third parties on their behalf. Individuals in the following positions will participate in an on-site training session:

  • Artistic Director
  • Managing Director
  • Production/Stage Manager
  • Assistant Stage Manager
  • Rehearsal Director
  • Marketing and Outreach Coordinator
  • Development Manager
  • Dancers
  • Individuals in the following positions, who are contract workers, will complete the e-training module:
  • Volunteers
  • Accountants
  • Other third parties acting on behalf of TDT

This training will be provided to staff within a month of their start date.

Training will include:

  • An overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the requirements of the customer service standard’s plan
  • How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities
  • How to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device or require the assistance of a service animal or a support person
  • How to manage requests for theatre access
  • What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty in accessing services and information

Staff will also be trained when changes are made to the plan.

Feedback process

Customers who wish to provide feedback on the way TDT provides goods and services to people with disabilities can e-mail or phone the Managing Director as noted on our website.

All feedback will be directed to the Managing Director. Customers can expect to hear back within five business days.

Complaints will be addressed according to our organization’s regular complaint management procedures.

Modifications to this or other policies

Any TDT policy that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disabilities will be modified or removed.

Physical Access

At present, our building is not fully accessible to individuals with physical disabilities. However, we are working on rectifying this issue, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, as we plan for future capital improvements.
