TDT has always been about creation. Creative growth comes from encounters with new ideas.
Christopher House
The development of original Canadian choreography continues to be at the heart of Toronto Dance Theatre's mission. Four at the Winch underscores this commitment to dance artists, both performers and choreographers. It is a project of sharing and openness of spirit where experimentation and risks are encouraged. Through Four at the Winch, both established and up-and-coming choreographers are invited to explore and create new works with TDT's dancers as their raw material. This opportunity allows guest choreographers to work with a group of exceptional dancers without the responsibilities of self-production. It also gives the company the opportunity to experience other ideas and working processes allowing the dancers to show different sides of themselves to our audience.
The involvement of new voices and guest artists has been stimulating and enriching for everyone. Since its inception in 1998, the
Four at the Winch series has played to sell-out crowds and rave reviews.
